Due to popular demand, the OneNews theme has been updated to support multiple pages of news like Alltop. Available only for the premium version.
For those who bought v2.0, this is not a required upgrade. So if you are happy with your current installation, you can skip this. If you like to have this new feature and willing to re-configure your installation, please contact me and I will email you the new package. Include your Paypal email address so that I can verify that you bought the theme.

Thanks for update, great work!
Trouble in Paradise? It _looks_ like, if you add a page after you’ve setup your widgets on other pages, 2.1 messes the widgets on the other pages (a page order/id thing?)
I must have a deeper look at this, but did anybody else have this kind of problem? Possibly related to this, perhaps: http://alexking.org/blog/2008/09/06/wordpress-26x-duplicate-custom-field-issue ? (aka the infamous “post revision” feature in wp 2.6
Possible to list detailed steps to replicate the error?
If it’s related to post revision, does disabling it solve the issue?
http://lesterchan.net/wordpress/2008/07/17/how-to-turn-off-post-revision-in-wordpress-26/
The steps were as follows:
1. Install and activate onenews theme
2. add a couple of widgets to the home page
3. create 3-4 pages for “multipage” site à la alltop, as per instructions in pdf file included with theme
4. add widgets to these pages too
up until now everything goes very smoothly (thanks!) and as intended.
5. subsequently add some 5 more pages
6. skip a heartbeat when, while wanting to add widgets to those new pages, i notice that the old ones do not show their widgets anymore (in the admin panel)
7. point 6. confirmed while viewing site
a point that might be important: between 4 and 5 i added and activated the wp super-cache plugin by donncha. it was the only addition or change to the installation, but suspecting something was amiss, i deactivated it _and emptied the cache_. this did not solve my problem, but just in case, you now know exactly what went on on my install.
another thing: in 4 i added some 30 widgets to a page – too much, i agree, that’s why i fragmented it in othe rpages (not sub-pages, may i add)
8. i checked in the database: the settings for the widgets added in 4. are still there -whew!
9. going back to the admin panel, i also was able to find the widgets, but not in relation to the correct page. at a quick glance it *seems* that they respond to the page order, not the page stub (or name). so, if in 4. i added some widgets to the second page (let’s call it tech), but then add some more pages, when going back to the admin i find those widgets in “news” which, alpabetically, comes in second place now *where “tech was*.
I still need to do some tests to confimr 9. and i will also try lester chan’s trick to deactivate post revision. I also need to try all these steps on a fresh install, just to see if the problem repeats itself (with and without wp super-cache). But it’s quite late in Europe now, so it will have to wait until tomorrow, or perhaps even friday I’m afraid. Sorry about that, but I’ll let you know!
Thanks Serge. I will try on my side too.
Appreciate your time on this.
*Update: Manage to replicate the issue. Working on a fix.
Setting up the page could get cumbersome for large pages. Do you have plan to simplify the entry process?
Also, it would be great if there’s a way to enter everything in a list that’s easier to sort and move around.
In any case, I do think this is a terrific theme and I am glad that you took the time to develop it. Thank you.
Unfortunately I’ve yet to figure this out. WordPress 2.8 will see a revamp of the widgets admin area. Let’s see how it goes.
Or at least a function to all duplicate widgets to a different page.
Also, I just noticed that sub-pages show up on the Alphabet list. Is there a way for sub-pages not to show (or show as sub) so that it’s easier to create hierarchical structure?
I’ve tried working along that line but alas.. it’s the way WordPress assign dynamic ids for each widget that complicates matter.
To hide subpages, open widgets.php , look for 3 instances of
and replace with
Thank you for the SQL tweak.
So far, the feedback I’ve received have been about load time. I am using the build in cache and super-cache, but it doesn’t seem to help. Is there anything I can do to improve speed?
Or is there a way to put in a script that say “Please wait…” with some sort of animated clock?
The speed seems pretty good for me. A quick video of your site, with browser cache cleared: http://www.zshare.net/video/582041939d1a962b/
I’m not sure of such scripts.
I think I’ve found the answer I am looking for here:
http://dbzer0.com/blog/the-fastest-caching-combo-for-wordpress-am-i-in-a-cached-nirvana
Basically a combination of “hyper cache” and “db cache”.
Do you know any plugin that let you manage the widgets more efficiently? The widget manager in 2.8.x tries to load everything and it no longer practical if you have more than 100 or so widgets.
Unfortunately not that i know of.
