After a month long hiatus, I decided to give Ericulous a major overhaul, both in design and content. My main objective is to achieve more in less time. Providing more themes, plugins and tips for my readers while spending less time on support.
Previously Ericulous was more of a personal blog with no particular focus. As the probloggers preach: young jedi, you must find and focus on a niche. Seeing that most of my popular posts are related to WordPress, I will mainly blog on WP topics from now.
Personal posts are still lying around, just that they are not accessible from the homepage. Deleting them is a waste and I may migrate them later should I start a personal blog again.
Going for a professional look, I decided on and modified the Red Business theme. Now the homepage looks more like a showcase gallery for my themes and plugins. I’m liking this non-blog design
This might be a bit controversial but I have disabled comments. As much as I want to provide free support, it’s taking up too much of my time. I believe the time will be better spent on creating new themes or plugins. This is not cast in stone and I will further access whether to allow comments in the future.
To balance things up, I have added a Tips & Tricks section to most theme and plugin posts. Hopefully these faqs will help to solve your problem. There’s also a WordPress resources section at the footer which are highly recommended for self-help support. Also you can feedback to me with your issue. I may then decide whether it goes under the Tips & Tricks section, an idea for a new post or give you a quote for a job request.
Up and Coming
With more time on hand, I will be touching up on these themes
- Fashionista Theme for my Singapore online shopping directory
- GenkiTheme (Fixed Width) for my personal blog
